Conscious Union & Expectant Motherhood: How Meeting My Husband Changed Everything

The Alchemy of a Supportive Union

It is pretty wild how meeting one person can change the entire trajectory of your life—literally pulling you in a completely new direction.

When I think about my husband and partner in this life and business, Derek, I realize that having him by my side has been like unlocking parts of myself that I had kept hidden away for years. He brought out the parts of me that were afraid to take up space, the parts that felt they needed to remain quiet, and the parts that I simply lacked the confidence to let see the light of day.

When a person truly supports you, it unleashes an incredible life force within you. There is a profound alchemy possible between two souls who genuinely want the absolute best for each other.

I spent far too much time in my past settling for company that was mediocre. I accepted treatment that was disrespectful, degrading, and discouraging. Honestly, it didn't even seem that bad to me at the time—I had normalized it. But looking back now, I can see how misguided I truly was, believing that someone loved me when the way they treated me couldn't have been further from the definition of real love.

Learning what true support feels like is something I deeply hope my children will carry into their own lives: the knowledge that they deserve a partner who lifts them up, encourages their growth, sees the best in them, and treats them with unwavering respect.

Expecting vs. Planning: A Shift in Perspective

A close friend recently asked me a question about the conception of our son that completely shifted my internal landscape:

“Were you expecting him?”

Simply replacing the corporate, clinical word "planning" with "expecting" changed everything about how I resonated with our journey into parenthood.

When people ask, "Was this baby planned or a surprise?", it reduces family building to a mechanical schedule. But using the word expectation honors the deep, intuitive certainty that precedes new life.

Ever since I met my husband, there was a quiet, grounded confidence knowing that we would bear children and raise a family together. This feeling was fundamentally different from the desperate longing for children I had carried in my younger years—a longing I had tried to push onto the wrong partners in the past out of a raw desire to become a mother.

When I met Derek, the striving stopped. I simply knew we were meant to build a family surrounded by love.

The Confidence of Soulmates

That intuitive knowing didn't mean that doubts or worries never crept in. We still had to navigate societal pressures and the fearful "what-if" scenarios that come with committing to someone without waiting for arbitrary timelines. But beneath those fleeting fears, I was continually anchored by a deep, peaceful knowing that we were meant to walk this path together.

I remember one night early in our relationship when Derek turned to me and voiced the exact same inner truth—telling me he knew we would have children together. In fact, during our very first conversation, we spoke openly about our shared desire for family and children. It was part of a potent, hours-long discussion where I felt completely safe expressing my deepest desires without pretense or hesitation.

It turns out what they say is true: when you meet your soulmate, it doesn't feel like a stranger—it feels like coming home to someone you’ve known forever.
